What we mean by coding
Modern cars store configuration in control units. Coding and adaptations change those settings — registering a new battery, teaching injectors, enabling a fitted retrofit, or adjusting how a module behaves.
It is specialist work: wrong codes waste time and can set faults. We confirm support first and price the session for proper attention, not a rushed freebie.

Frequently asked questions
What is vehicle coding?
Coding and adaptations tell control units how to behave — enabling options, registering parts, or setting workshop adaptations. It is not the same as a Stage 1 remap or a full ECU clone.
Is coding the same as ECU programming / cloning?
No. Coding usually changes configuration on modules already in the car. Programming/cloning is deeper hardware-level work (see ECU programming & cloning). Remapping changes performance calibration (see ECU remapping).
Can you enable any feature I see online?
No. Lists on forums are often model-year specific. We only promise what your chassis and access support after we check.
Do I need parts fitted first for retrofit coding?
Usually yes. Software cannot replace missing hardware. Fit the module correctly first (or have your workshop do it), then we code where supported.
Will coding void my warranty or cause faults?
Manufacturer warranty rules vary. Poor coding or wrong hardware causes faults — we work carefully and only with agreed changes. We do not guarantee manufacturer goodwill policies.
Do you code illegal modifications?
No. We will not enable functions that are unsafe or unlawful for road use in the UK. If you are unsure, ask before booking.
How long does a session take?
Simple jobs can be under an hour. Multi-module or online-style work takes longer and is priced in the advanced band.
Can this be done at my home or workplace?
Yes for most coding visits, subject to coverage and a safe setup. Some brands need a longer, stable session — we will advise.
